This place is my fault. I cooked up this site almost a year before launch because I like jet packs and I like stories and I was big into flash fiction at the time and I thought maybe I’d start a flash-fiction site of my own. Or a writer’s enclave. Or an online writer’s workshop. Yeah, I had no idea.

So I sat down to make an outline, and I wrote the first draft of what became The Dirty Model, which amounts to this: We can publish our stories online, ourselves. Though, when I wrote that, “we” was just me and the rough version of the Jet Pack logo. And for almost a year, we didn’t use this site much at all, and we never publicized it.
Then Chuck Wendig wrote about his frustrations getting rejected by magazines and wondered if it was worth the trouble lately, and in that I saw an opportunity — someone else who might want to just publish it himself. And we went to Wood Ingham, because Wood is a brilliant writer and we’d both worked with him a lot already, and got the trio we thought we needed to keep the place running.
So I refined the logo and the site design while Chuck and Wood selected some material to share with you, and now here we are. Wish us luck.
